To share subfolders on a File Share resource

1. Open Cluster Administrator.
2. Create a File Share resource.

   For more information on creating a new resource, see Related Topics.

3. In the console tree, double-click Groups, and then click the group that contains the File Share resource that you created in step 2.
4. In the details pane, click the File Share resource that you created. On the File menu, click Properties.
5. On the Parameters tab in Path, type the path to the folder whose subfolders you want to share.
6. To configure file share permissions, click Permissions.

7. Click Advanced, and then click Share subdirectories to enable the combo file share option that allows File Share resources to share subfolders. If you want to prevent users from seeing the subdirectory shares when they browse the network, click Hide subdirectories shares, and then click OK.

8. On the File menu, click Bring online.

• The combo file share option permits a File Share resource to share subfolders. Subfolders of a combo file share are shared using the folder name. You cannot specify a name for a subfolder share. The only way to change a subfolder file share name is to change the subfolder name (for example, using Windows Explorer). Changing the name of a shared subfolder breaks the file share temporarily. The subfolder file share will be unavailable for the time specified by the File Share resource Is Alive poll interval. The subfolder will be shared again the next time the File Share resource Is Alive poll is called.
• If you select the Hide subdirectories shares option you do not have to type $ as the last character when specifying the file share name. The File Share resource will automatically hide the subdirectories when you select the Hide subdirectories shares option.
